Mousetrap

The Agatha Christie murder mystery play Mousetrap is currently running at St Martins Theatre on London’s West End where it has been successfully performed since March 1974. The cast of the performance is changed annually which creates a fresh performance each year. However, the Director, David Turner, has been the director for the performance for some years now. The play has been performed over 23,000 times since it opened in the New Ambassadors theatre in 1952 where it stayed until moving to St Martins Theatre where it is still running today.

The rights to the play are under strict control of Christie’s grandson who has ensured that the play continues to attract audiences. The play is only performed outside of the United Kingdom once a year and no film version can be produced until six months after the play has finished running on the West End. The ending of the play is kept under close control as the audience is asked to keep the ending a secret from those who have yet to see it until it is revealed in the play. The mystery play continues to intrigue audiences and the current performance at St Martins Theatre is certainly living up to the good name of Mousetrap.
